COOL Grant Fund
Application Deadline for 2nd Semester Grants: October 31, 2022
The mission of FOSD is to support and partner with the Oregon School District to eliminate barriers to learning and engagement in school for kids in need. OSD's mission is to "...help students acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to achieve their individual potential..."
The Creating Opportunities for Oregon Learners (COOL) Grant ties these two missions together with a purpose of providing funds for educators looking to created enhanced opportunities for students that align with FOSD's objectives and the District values of Whole Child Emphasis and Educational Equity.
COOL Grant requests are prioritized based on alignment to these values, which are defined as:
Whole Child Emphasis: Each child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged.

Meet the academic, behavioral, social and emotional needs of all learners.

Discover and nurture the talents and interests of all learners.

Ensure all learners meet "The Four C's" measures of success: Competency, Character, Culture and Community
Educational Equity: All learners reach their full potential.

Ensure high quality outcomes for learners.

Ensure every learner has what they need to develop to their academic and social potential.

Actively work to eliminate gaps in access and opportunity, and barriers to learning.
The COOL Grant is made possible through funds allocated to FOSD from the Oregon Area Educational Foundation.
Examples of learning opportunities that may qualify:

Improving access to recreation, arts or cultural experiences for students perhaps unable to access them. The activity or experience includes entire classrooms or groups of learners.

Providing classroom enrichment, off-site visits or speakers to build positive relationships and connection.
Please note that the COOL grant is intended for groups, classrooms, teams or a whole school. Requests for individual students fall under the Champions Fund (please click HERE).
The COOL grant is a one-time grant, not recurring, and a statement of impact will be required.
